, all over north carolina. on and off rain today, same with virginia. and now that the rain is starting to move northward, maryland, delaware, sunday new jersey. up and down the earn seaboard our system will be a two-day event and don't count on a lot of sunshine. the rest of the country looks pretty nice. temperatures are chilly this morning in chicago up through the northern plains. here's your forecast today. a beautiful fall crisp day from st. louis to kansas city. look at dallas, warm at 76. denver. a lot of rain, even some thorns and alorm with it possible airm airport delays. that's a look at your monday forecast. in washington, d.c. some rain this morning and that will continue through the day. as the warm front kicks north ward we may throw in a thunderstorm or two. areas in the south, same for you in atlanta. as i mentioned there's some gorgeous weather in the country from dallas to denver. we'll take a look at that tuesday forecast. and for the east coast, veron a veronica, it doesn't get a lot better. >> don't forget your umbrella. >>> so how is wall street going to do this

. you see those heavy downpours there across north carolina, extending up into virginia. that cluster of heavy rain on its way to us and so we're going to keep the flood threat going into the evening. 70s, rain still a flood watch through tomorrow morning. and again some of these downpours as they move in out of the south may be pretty heavy. much more on this and a look ahead towards next weekend, coming up. >>> long before the flood warnings and watches came into effect western high school in north baltimore was forced to close because of flooding in the school. workers arrived and found a few rooms damaged from the overnight rains. the damage was minor and they expect to have everything all cleaned up so school can resume tomorrow morning. >>> the other big story, the latest on the building collapse in west baltimore we told you about at 5:00. city rescue crews are still at the scene of druid hill avenue and laurens streets. around 3:30 this afternoon crews got a call a two-story building collapsed. police received initial reports that a woman bystander was standing near the buildi

and my father from southern virginia. and washington is where they met, married and then had me. so, without the great migration, i wouldn't be here. i don't know who you'd be talking to. so, i've lived with it all my life. i grew up with people from north carolina, south carolina, georgia -- all around me in the neighborhood where i grew up. and i was surrounded by the language, the food, the music, the ambitions, too, of the people who had migrated from the south. a lot of competition about who's child would go to which school, catholic school, the school across the park. so, it's been with me all this time. but i think that, when it comes to the actual writing of a book, it probably started, very likely, after i had gotten out and been a reporter for the "new york times" and started to talk to people in other parts of the country. i was chicago bureau chief for the "new york times." and i would go to chicago. i'd be in cleveland, i'd be in detroit. and i'd begin to hear that there were similar migration experiences that people had. no one talked about it as a migration experience

. this is wre democrats did well in the last two cycles. we saw this in northern virginia, suburbs outside philadelphia, outside of las vegas and phoenix, even, this is where democrats we able to win over voters with a common sense kind of agenda, practic approach to making the middle- class better. what we found is a lot of residents there are falling on tough times and switching their loyalties. they are not necessarily tea party people, so they are not angry -- i talked to about two dozen residents of the subdivision who were political independents, and they did not say anything hateful about the president or that they were voting the tea party but they were critical of the president. it's good he said they were not tea party identifiers. -- host: yu said that they are concerned about everyday issues that affect their lives. how important of the suburbs or this area of this country -- not urban america or rural america, more of a middle-class enclave. guest: it is critical for both parties. it is where the growth is. not necessarily the closed in suburbs that have been established for a
